Here is a Starrett No. 657AA magnetic base with a Starrett No. 196 dial indicator set and a Randall & Stickney 1 dial indicator. These tools are in very good used condition.
You will find some cosmetic imperfections but nothing that will hinder their usefulness. So there are no surprises when you receive your tools, I point out where the previous owner scribed his/her initials. (see the last two photos) Please don't let these imperfections detract from what is otherwise a very nice used set of tools. The magnet base has some scratches and scuffs on it from normal use. It turns "on" and "off" easily and "sticks" solidly to any smooth steel surface.
Everything slides around easily and locks down tight wherever you want it to. I really enjoy finding vintage tools like these and putting them back into the working world.
This Randall & Stickney indicator is built like a tank. It does not have a clear lens on it. 196 indicator works with the same reliability. Being 100ish years old, these indicators have survived the test of time. You will find no scratches on the clear plastic lens on the back plunger dial.196 set is complete with all of its accessories. These accessories allow you to set up your tools in a variety of different ways.
Everything will work perfectly for you! The wooden protective case has done a very good job of protecting these tools. It opens and closes easily and holds everything securely. It will continue to protect your tools for many years to come. This base and indicator have a vertical reach of about 15" and a horizontal reach of about 8".
These American made tools are ready to go back to work immediately and would make a great addition to any precision toolbox. Please look at all the photographs as they can describe the condition of these tools much better than I can.
