Starrett No. 657D magnetic base with a SPI 1 dial indicator

Here is a Starrett No. 657D magnetic base with a SPI 1 dial indicator No. These tools work very well together. The Stattett magnetic base has been used so you will find some minor scratches, and a few dings but nothing that will hinder its usefulness. Every piece has been polished up to bring it back to the very good condition it is now in.

When i received it there was some rust on the holding rod. It is gone now but therebis some pitting left. This magnet "sticks" solidly to any flat steel surface. The magnet turns "on" and "off" easily with just a push of the button. 657H snug has an issue.

As you can see in the last two photos, the sleeve pops out when you adjust it. The sleeve is tight to the post.

This really isn't a big issue. All you have to do simply slide this sleeve to your selected spot and slide the snug onto it and tighten. Please don't let this detract from what is otherwise a very nice used tool. The SPI dial indicator is also in good used condition condition.

I The plunger moves easily without any hesitations. The clear plastic lens has a crack on it and and few scratches. Again, please don't let this detract from what is otherwise a very nice used indicator.

Everything works perfectly, just as designed. This set up has a vertical reach of approximately 20" and a horizontal reach of approximately 12". This American made magnetic base and Japanese indicator are both ready to go back to work immediately and would make a great addition to any precision tool box.
